Geum rivale ‘Barbra Lawton’ bears sprays of nodding red buds that open into delicate, salmon-pink, bell-shaped flowers, gradually becoming more upright as they mature. Short, softly hairy stems rise above mounds of mid-green foliage. More prolific than the native Geum rivale, it produces masses of flowers from late April to the end of June.
Despite its delicate appearance, it is a tough perennial. In suitable conditions it quickly forms clumps of foliage that help suppress weeds. Plant it in groups in lightly shaded woodland or beside water, or use its compact size in a cottage garden. It prefers fertile, moisture-retentive soil in full sun or partial shade.
